Looking for a decent meat delivery place that's cheap. It'll be for braai meat. We don't eat lamb (ewww).

I see some of them have referrals, if you have a referral pls PM it to me and I'll use it if I go with your suggestion.

All suggestions welcome. Cheers.

Local to me is Mid Glamorgan provisions, but I don't know where you are in the world. I read that as Braai MEET, thinking "cool a bbq meetup" You can tell its nearly lunchtime here.

Well we need braai meat for the braai meet.

Mmmm, meat.

I've just had a delivery from Salter & King for my dad for fathers day (and some bits for myself).

It all seems quality, very well butchered and I would say reasonably priced. It's not cheap, but I got 4x 300g bone in pork chops, 500g smoked back bacon, 2x 350g pork t bones, 6 Italian sausages, 2 300g sirloin steaks, 1kg pork belly and 2kg jacobs ladder/beef ribs for just under £100 delivered.

If you've got the space I'd look at a local farm and see if you can buy a quarter/half cow or pig. They will butcher it for you, vac pack it and then you can freeze it. Half a pig will run you £150-250, half a cow could be £1500 but it's a silly amount of meat and will fill a chest freezer.

Edit: Just cooked my sirloin, very good steak. If the rest is similar quality I'd be happy to recommend.

I ordered a rack of extra meaty pork ribs from Truebites.co.uk

3.8kg of goodness ready for a slow smoke on Sunday...

Very impressed with their service, meat looks good. Will report back with how it went down next week...

meat prices are silly. we used to have pigs for eg they still not that expensive 60 to 75 quid a piglet. rib prices are insane for what they are.

Im old enough when there was near riots when the price of New Zealand Lamb went up and for a whole leg would cost £5. Packs of Ribs for a few quid and pork belly, oh how I used to love pork belly before it became trendy. Used to get that by the ton lol. They used to give bones away at the butchers when you were making stock, you have to pay through the nose now....
