Mechanical Keyboard doesn't seem to suit me, any recommendations?

I have had the Corsair Vengeance K60 with Cherry MX red keys for over half year but still feel it's clunky and creates more errors than previous membrane keyboards.

The keys have a larger press area when I'm someone who doesn't bottom out the keys. It makes me doubt if I've actually pressed the button.

The keys also feel clunky, akin to a typewriter rather than membrane keys which are softer with less of an angled edge. This in turn makes gliding over keys much more difficult without making a mistake.

So my question is should I just go back to membrane keys or does mechanical still have something for me?

I for one prefere membrane keyboards. I have a Lenovo slim keyboard for the past 5 years which has been faultless stills gives an audible key movement (or maybe I type too hard). Cheap as chips as well.

I don't notice any lag in input but then again I'm not a pro gamer.

If you want tactile response so you know when you've pressed a key, you could try brown (soft), clear (medium) or blue (hard) switches instead.

Blue switches also make a 'click' noise when you press them, whereas the other two just have a 'bump' when you press them.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot.

The blues sound great but I'm not feeling the loud clicks.

I will go to my computer center this week and check them out.

Cheers!

Blues are best for typing, they don't need pressing all the way down and give tactile feedback and an audible click when you've pressed the key far enough. I also game using my keyboard and the sound doesn't bother me at all, although it will bother some people. The red switches are mostly aimed at gaming with typing a poor second.

Reds are probably not for you then, their mainly for gamers who will be bottoming out, like others have said different colours have tactile feedback and clicks, I prefer blues myself.

Just spent the last 30 minutes cleaning and installing these O-rings. I suggest you do it with a keycap puller (one was included with my keyboard) as it would've been a very arduous task without one.

Anyway, these things are amazing. The sound of the keys are far less pronounced on my ears now. It's more of a dull tap than a sharp one and there is more bounce rather than a clack which allows the keys to lift back to their original position quicker. Pretty much perfection for me now.

The next thing I like is that I don't have to press the keys all the way down now to achieve actuation. That let's me leave the keys after I've pressed a lot faster and in turn let's me type faster. I also feel I'm already making less mistakes as my fingers don't have to move around huge mountain-like keys when other fingers are bottomed out. Just an overall smoother experience.

The last thing I like is that some of the bigger keys were still as loud with only a single O-ring. I simply doubled them up and it allowed me to have the same reduction in sound.

I honestly can't recommend these enough.

Thanks guys!
