So i'm going to buy a mechanical keyboard and this is my first, i've chosen the red switches as i've read these would suit gamers more and are decent for general typing.

I have £70 to spend ovbiously can round it to 80 if there is a better choice available, can you guys reccomend me a keyboard?

cheers

Just got my mechanical keyboard today (Corsair K90).

Making a few mistakes typing here and there where I would press another key ever so slightly and it would register it. Keys are also slightly closer together than previous keyboard so that clearly doesn't help :p

i have the Qpad mk-85 with black switches and i love it if for any reason i need another keyboard it will be a Qpad

it did take me a few days to get used to touch typing but now i can be almost a quiet using it as my old keyboard

Same here. I have the Qpad 85 with black switches. I tried the red and they were just too light. Too easy to catch another key and press it with out realising.

Love the feel of the black switches. They just feel perfect.

Without breaking too many rules - I would STRONGLY advise people to look at UNICOMP keyboards.

They use the same buckling spring technology used in the old IBM Model M keyboards, fantastic feeling whenever you press a key.

They actually are IBM Model M keyboards, IBM sold their keyboard division to Unicomp in the same way they sold their PC division to Lenovo.

those unicomp keyboards don't look too popular, they look ugly as hell aswell and they are mostly around £60 anyways

They look like that because they went into production in 1985, the classic model hasn't really changed much apart from the addition of Windows keys and USB. Its rare but sometimes a company does get it right first time, and don't complain about £60, a used IBM branded one can go for over £100 depending on condition.
