Mechanics in here please - Clutch arm sheared

Sorry for the lack of updates guys.

Spent this affy taking all the bits that would be in the way off the engine, and got my first proper view of the failed joint.

Doing the job myself. :)

A guy off Rovertech has offered to help me, so I'll be picking up a decent socket set, a crate of beer and attacking it in the near future.

:D will be updated with pics, and I had to drive to work in the 400 diesel, and it's back to 103bhp. :(

if you really have to go to a garage... select 3rd and just drive there

youll be limited to about 90mph though

or just DIY and make owning an old banger more bearable... my current old banger is actually reliable, so if you persevere youll get there eventually

Plan is to fix any niggles while I have the diesel on the road, and should be a lovely car to own and run.

When it's running it is a cracking bit of kit, a far cry from your average "banger". :)

Puts my friends 2003 PasShat to shame! :D

Heard of a few within my circle of friends too, one guy has had repeated failures but can't find out why, new waterpump, stat etc but keeps eating them on his E36 Compact.

Hopefully the HG is one thing I can leave alone on this one :p

do more hg's on bmw's then rovers anyway, have done for a few years now.

Thats because all the rovers are in the scrappy :D

Only joking. I love rovers. I've owned 6 myself.

You'll feel a thousand times better when you complete this job yourself. I would say removing the gearbox is the most difficult job you'll do on this car, even though removing the gearbox isn't difficult, just time consuming.

I would recommend changing the brake fluid for the clutch if it shares the same resevoir as the brake one. It's surprising how much difference it makes for the gearchange and braking, and it will keep the troublesome ABS unit happy with clean fluid.

waterpumps made from cheese.

aye, i stopped to help a guy with a dead bmw at the side of the road - took one look under the bonnet at the massive split down the side of the radiator and left it to the RAC!

O/T but is that your RX7? Got a honda lump? pics/thread? :D

The one in my sig is one of my favourite pics of an Rx. It isn't mine unfortunatley, but does look very similar except the wheels and slightly lower suspension. Would love those wheels, but they cost nearly 2 grand from the states.

Here is mine though. Only just realised there was a dedicated section for cars:rolleyes:

Ah yeah, you had that nice white 220 GTi didn't you?

Yeah, thats me. Flippin loved that car. It only my second car after an austin metro, so it felt rapid. It kept getting broken into though. Was nicked twice, and had 3 lots of audio equipment nicked out of it, so i had enough and sold it.

Sorry for the HJ OP
