Hi guys, bit of a odd query. Yesterday was my first proper experience at fiddling around under the bonnet of my car (after 6 years of driving!) My car had been long overdue a service, and rather than forking out for someone else to do it, my best mate and i decided to do it ourselves, now he has been playing around with engines for ages and used to work for ford so knew what he was doing, and i really enjoyed getting stuck in and learning about engines.

Now we did it round his house and he had a big metal 3 drawer toolbox with socket set in the top, however he got it years ago and can't really remember where he got it from, but i was after the same sort of thing as i can see myself getting really into tinkering around in the engine.

So, any ideas where i can get a cheap 3 drawer toolbox preferably with a socket set in the top?

Thanks

Halfords are pretty good for socket sets. Take a look at machine mart as well, usually a bit cheaper and have a larger range of tools.

You mean something like this

But it's much better to buy an empty tool chest and choose your own tools for it...

Get yourself one of these, awesome :D

ok so maybe its a bit ott for you but i also have 2 of these

which are awesome for cheap robust toolboxes.

That second link is the kind of thing that i'm after, but (and this may seem sad) but i am a tidy freak and i would like for the tools, specifically in the top drawer to be layed out, can you buy inserts?

Halfords Pro stuff is good...

My toolbox, shame i'm too poor to fill it!.
:D

Very nice box. I know someone who "tinkers" with his car now and then. So decided to spend 3k on a Snap On Chest and rolling box  (including tools of course)

Bet that cost a pretty penny!

Was secondhand and 6 weeks old (as new really) when i got it, the previous owner bought it, and then decided he wanted something bigger :D. Cost me £800...i think the retail price at the time was £1100 plus the vat...
:)

Sealey pro stuff, as good as Snap-On plus you get loads of graded ones on the bay of e, got my roll cab and 3 drawer top box for under £150 and all there was on the way of damage was a slight dint on the topbox and a scratch on the roll cab
In perfect nick, they would have been about £600 for the pair.
