Mechwarrior 4 - Was a sequel/similar ever released?

Yep, would love to see another Mechwarrior or Battletech PC game. Have played everyone since the original Machwarrior 1 and Crescent Hawks Inception games.

Most recently Smith & Tinker (founded by Jordan Weisman) have purchased the rights to the Mechwarrior universe (and other FASA properties) to develop games which are so far unannounced.

Crysis game is looking good, but not sure how long it will be until they giv eout somethign for us all to play. Being a Laio player ont he board game and pc game, cant wait for some backstabbing ppc shots hehe.

Think battletech lost the plot on the TTG when they came out with some stupid plastic base design and mechs that were meant to be to scale that didnt really look too much like the metal models. That and the fact they rewound the clock about 600 years in tech age kind of killed the game for a lot of players.

But, the PC is ready for a good battle tech / mech warrior game. Hoped SupCom would fill in the gap, but it didnt. almost, but nothing like sitting in an Archer or WarHammer and blasting away with smoke everywhere. god i miss MW, think ill go reinstal it this weekend :)

Come on Living Legends, get a move on!!!

I loved Crecent Hawk's Inception - I've still got a copy of it on my hard drive (I found copies of the original floppies when I was clearing out my 3.5" discs a couple of years ago).

It would be great if they did develop some new mechwarrior games :)

The old Battletech was still existing concurrently with the Dark Ages clix game. TBH I thought the hex-based game was hopeless, like some weird throwback to the dawn of tabletop games, 10 million dice rolls, colouring in little dots on bits of paper, thousands of little rules amendments and additional rules spread across a dozen books... I've played better developed homebrews.

The clix game on the other hand was actually quite good fun, fast paced and could be very tactical. Trouble is, you can't casually play a clix game, because they're collectable so the big spenders usually have the best force, and people actually memorise all the dials so they're always one step ahead. But still I'd sooner play Dark Ages than Classic.

so when I'm in the attic this weekend digging out the xmas decorations I'll be looking for my MW game disks.

always loved mechgames. Still have an original xbox so I can play steel battalion, great mech game (even though its on a console)

I don't think the Zone is alive any more but if anyone fancied some MW4 madness I'd be up for it in between Xmas and New Year :) Just need someone with decent bandwidth to host a server :D

That game will run awesomely on any modern setup I'd imagine!

Madcat with 6ERLL sniper config and epic overheating was so much fun :D

One thing that perplexed me with MW4 was that a lot of the top players were using trackballs - I could never get my head around it. I preferred using a Sidewinder joystick, it just made me feel much more connected to the mech, especially when skirmishing - I used to love playing alongside the other chaps in RAGE :)

joysticks were amazing for MW, using left and right to twist torso was the winning way, i agree you felt so much more connected, great games!

I entered a MW tourny one year at a thing called GenCon. Used the joystick and another button device for the 1st round and got battered... was running into walls, falling off things ect. Should have seen their faces on the 2nd round when i pushed them to one side, got the KEYBOARD and MOUSE out and used them lol... so much giggling and pointing. I found it easyer to use as im use to K&M controls and i seemed to be the only one using the over head maps, weapon config and other nice bits..

Soon went quiet when i won 2-1 hehe....

Never did get the hang of the joystick....
