Medal Of Honour: Warfighter

Not sure if people have tried MOHW on the hardcore setting called immersive? It suffers the following 3 drawbacks only : guys shouting 'Medic' for no reason, UI a bit clunky, battlelog not retaining your loadouts if you start the game through it (start direct instead). The good news is that the immersive MP game is about 1 million times more hardcore than COD, and it really is realistic, immersive, fun, beautiful, and the buddy idea and spawning really works. I'm guessing those 3 bad points will be fixed but even if they're not this is a wonderful challenge so don't believe the anti-hype. Oh and I only play PC and multiplayer, the single player is probably as politically awful and on rails as all the reviews say (neocon praising assassinations and assassins as if they are better than Mandela or similar ********) but am guessing people would be pleasantly surprised with the MP. Decisions mean much more than in BF3 where you can just wreck the entire universe or get in a chopper etc, just a bit too fantasy for me, and I LOVED BFBC2, which was a bit that style too I know.

Just completed this, thoughts below:

+Amazing graphics
+Great performance 90fps+
+Ammo mechanic works quite well (versus corpse looting - with most games having moved to health regen instead of healthpacks it was only a matter of time before the realisation that forcing people to backtrack to find ammo isn't a good idea either). Although, it does mean you can be very spammy.
+Helicopter assault section is kinda fun
+I like way you can get dazzled by enemy flashlights
+Reasonably amount of variety in locations

-Generally not that good a SP game, much worse than Medal of Honor for example as it lacks some of the epic set pieces such as the fall back to defend an LZ. Apart from Black Ops I'd say this is probably the worst recent game of its type (comparing to MOH/BF/COD series).
-Driving sections are a bit stupid and overly scripted in terms of catching up with your target. In fact most of the 'minigame' sections are distinctly ordinary and no improvement on even the early COD/MOH games from the early-mid noughties.
-The 'violin' cutscenes feel a bit contrived and don't really add anything to the whole experience, the best games build up some sort of empathy throughout the game which makes the cutscenes more meaningful, whereas this just shoves it down your throat
-Had a continuity bug in the mission where you are clearing the training camp, it wouldn't trigger the next event in the shoothouse so I had to reload previous checkpoint
-Didn't think much of the storyline, it all seems a bit random and doesn't even feel like the game should end where it does
-Breaching mechanic could have been done better, all it does really is hold up the gameplay and is no improvement (arguably worse) than say Rainbow 6 Vegas
-A bit too linear, I'm not expecting free-roam in this type of game but the cinematography isn't up to COD standards which means it needs a bit more variety to maintain the interest

This just about sums it up. Nice concise review, btw.:)

I just got this game, hope I didn't make a mistake. Did read all the mediocre reviews but I think I'll get something out of it.

Have you tried increasing the settings? Looks great @ max settings @ 1080p.

I mean it doesnt look as good as crysis maxed or even bf3 maxed but its still one of the better looking games to come out recently.

I keep getting these "hitches" when playing, the game pauses for a few seconds.

The kind of thing you'd expect if your gpu was overheating, well I checked afterburner ingame and it said it was around 80c which is fine I believe.

Gonna try using vsync to see if it helps.

Hardly..... simply a crap game, which I have only put around 110 hours into, therefore I don't play it any more.... Unlike some people who have wasted 600+ hours on the game and have bent over for DICE/EA with regards to the premium package etc.

110 hours in 6 days? ****ing hell.

Anyone still playing this ? I thought it was utter crap when I started it, but I'm really liking it. No run and gun.

VOIP needs fixing to make this game even better.

If you mean MP, then no. I played a round, found it too easy and got rid of it and stuck with BF:3.

I just watched Total biscuit's video for this...

I've got to say, this game really surprised me. I knew it would be terrible, but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. I think they'd have to pay me for me to even consider playing it now.

So I take it you didn't buy BF3 either then... did you see his review of BF3?

Exactly.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong though, I love TotalBiscuit's reviews even if he is annoying most of the time.
