media center GPU?

is there any reason now day to use a low end GPU in a media center, or is intel HD4000 ok for 1080?

what sort of a GPU should be used if any?

If its just for video playback then the inbuilt will be fine, My old media center which used the older Celeron mobile chip played 1080p MKV files without issue.

Our media system is running an i3 4130 with HD4400 and it plays everything I've thrown at it. I don't see the need for a gpu.

Also I've tried stream streaming with it and it runs perfect... actually kinda nice being able to lazy in bed and play Witcher 3.

no.

but some boards don't have HDMI output, so you need to use GPU for that.

You might want a card with hdmi 2.0 for a 4k tv
