Is there a way of getting the pc to turn on/off via remote control?

I don't leave my system on over nyt as its too loud, and really cant be bothered to keep getting outta bed to turn the system off.

is there a way to do this?

top right button of a media centre mce remote, or dont you have one ? this will put it in standby if done correctly

purchase an Imon remote and reciever and get all the functionality of a MCE for about £45.

I do gave a pretty good poking pole I could use. (And no. I'm not talking about my manhood. Kind of!!!) Spose i could keep it by my bed.

You can also get the pc to actually show the full shutdown options, switch off / standby / restart, from the remote within media centre also.

Press the green button on the remote to go back to the start page and then use the arrows to get to the top left button / icon on the screen and press it. Thats from memory but it's there somewhere. More usefull than just putting it on stand by if you want to turn off fully.

S3 Standby is the best of all worlds, imo.

Hit the power button on the MCE remote and it goes into standby almost immediately - and all the fans are off. Press it again, and it comes back to life within seconds.
