I have the below spec system which i am trying to set up as a media machine in the lounge on a 32" Sony Bravia.

It currently has onboard analogue graphics which i will be replacing with a low profile hdmi output soon like the one linked to below.

I have been using windows media centre to add some films from my current desktop, but the navigation is very slow around the menu's, the computer isnt loading so i know the hard drive is not under strain.

Is the CPU powerful enough or is it purely because i haven't got a new graphics card for it?

Thanks

That cpu should be more than enough, I use my laptop as a media type pc and it runs very smooth, It could be graphics :/ what onboard do you currently have...

Just runs standard intel chipset i think.

Media centre just seems really jerky, i was hoping to get a low profile card for it any way.

Your CPU should be powerful enough and as Biz.Kid said it's probably your graphics card thats slowing it down. Try turning off the transition aimations under the visual and sound effects settings and see if that helps.
