Have recently done a whole system format and install, i have recently started doing some gaming captures and video editing, before i did the system format when i used to watch my videos back in either WMP or VLC player i used to be able to skip to any part of the video clip and the video would resume playing from that point straight away. But now when i skip to a part in the video with either WMP or VLC it take absolutely ages to start resuming the video again, any ideas why im having this problem now, its obviously software related but im not sure what would cause it?

It's more likely you've changed an encoding setting and are omitting keyframes (or leaving too large a gap between them) which allow you to seek more easily.

Test a video you haven't encoded yourself that used to seek correctly.

Could be that, but I don't remember ever alerting the frequency of key frames before hand. Even VirtualDub seem to struggle playback of 1080p videos now and before was fine

Im still getting this problem. If im watch a 1080p video on VLC and i jump to a section of the clip say 5-10 minutes on it takes a good 10-15 seconds to start playing again. An ideas if this could be to a codec issues or a setting to change within VLC. I never had this problem before i did a complete system format.
