Just installed MOH Airborn and it says "the video card you are running is not supported"

on the back of the box it says 128mb gfx required...

I have a 256mb (Radeon 9600XT)... i know its getting on now but christ how mis leading is that. They best give me a re-fund if this will not work.

LOL just looked on the back and read the small print, and man is it small. My eye sight aint that hot, i thought the idea of the colour coded recommendations on the back was to focus you on what you require and my pc meets all of that bar the pixel shader version..i thought you could just update that to 3.0 as its a release number, doh. Oh well ill try get a refund if not sell it.. only paid £22 from super market anyway as used some coupons.

Is this pixel shader 3.0 going to be the new thing then, will i need to change my gfx card for BioShock ?

infact i dont think i can change my gfx card as i dont have a PCI-E port, woopy new motherboard time, and that means newer RAM needed and CPU, oh how expensive will this be just to play a game that would have run fine anyway bar a damn pixel shaded thing.

pixel shader 3.0 isnt a new thing, its a dx9.0c thing, geforce 6 & higher and radeon x1xxxs all support it.

Geforce 7s and supported radeons are available on AGP also.

Could just lie and say you have a geforce 7300 with 512mb and it doesnt hardly run/crashes. Its a lie but im fairly sure it wont work very well on one :)

Or.. you could just buy a new graphics card! X1950pro recommended since you are stuck on AGP :)

pixel shader 3.0 is a hardware thing thats on the gfx card like dx10 in a way :), 3.0 has been out for a while since doom3 i think, nvidia 6600 series has it which is in agp form

also there was a demo of airborn and bioshock :P

my god they do still do AGP cards, just realised ocuk has a seperate section for them (bless).

Will this card :

Make a DECENT improvement over my Radeon 9600XT ? i mean will i REALLY notice it?
that card will eat the 9600 alive but then you will proberly be cpu limited

iif you rely want to spend that much on an agp card you should save up and get a new system to be honest

what is your system spec btw?

^ eat it alive is an understatement :)
Its 2 generations newer!
It does heavily depend on specs as to how much difference you will see though yes.

A x1950 would be a gigantic leap up from a 9600xt and coupled with a 3.4ghz cpu and 1.5gig RAM it wouldn't be *that* bad an AGP gaming system.

At a rough guess you are talking 3x the performance.
My only concern would be whether your PSU is up to it.

not realy sure to be honest i played bioshock and moh airborne with a amd 3700 2gb ddr and a 8800gt on medium settings and it was painful in a lot of places, but ive gone to a intel q6600 2gb ddr2 8800gt and its made much more better

with games becoming more multi threaded duel core is going be a the standard (if its not now(

save your money and make the upgrade count dont go spending that much money on a agp card its just a bad choise

like the above person said it will be ok but the gap will get more bigger

indeed, go get your money back for the game and when you have about £250 or so upgrade the pc.
e4xxx or a cheap e6xxx c2d, 2gb of ram for £45-£55, mobo about £70, x1950pro pci-e £80

Just speced a few bits -

- AMD Athlon X2 4200+ 2.40GHz (Socket AM2) £49.34
- MSI K9N Neo V3 (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £46.99
- GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC5300C4 667MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit - £24.66
- OcUK GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - £64.61
- Western Digital 250GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - £46.99
- Antec NSK4400 Case - £54.04

-----

£286.63

Would that be ok, or should i go for a better gfx card ? im so out of touch with everything. 4 years ago I was fine, knew what was good...now its just scary lol.

+£25 for a x1950pro graphics card and you should be ok. Maybes add a weeeee bit for the geil ram thats on offer at the mo(2gb)
