my new little pet :D

Got him last saturday and this is the first time hes been out of his hide long enough to be able to get a decent photo of him :p

We had a handle of him in the shop, they really don't mind. Aparantly they don't recognise you as someone who feeds them, just a big tree to climb on, so as long as you support them they are fine. Can't get him out intil next Monday though :(

What will you feed Dave on?

Because he's still not very big just baby mice at the minute, when he gets a bit bigger he will go onto adult mice. Pretty much stick to something the same width as him so he doesn't have any problems digesting it. So at the minute i have 2 frozen baby mice in my freezer, which will keep him going for 2 weeks :)

Woo replies

Will try and answer most questions, as some people do actually seem interested :p

simulatorman - Get the mice form the reptile shop we got him from, not quite sure how big he will get, but the tank we have for him is more than big enough to last him his life time 36" x 18"

Le_Petit_Lapin - at the minute mate id say he is maybe 3 foot long? cant get him out until next monday and ive not seen him fully out of either of his hides yet

Streeteh - we got to hold him in the shop, the guy there taught us how to hold him and pick him up etc, he did seem happy being held in the shop though he was trying to get into my jacket pocket and up my back

noodle - as far as i know he is white underneath with some black markings yeah, not really seen his underbelly much though

Justin - I know the shop we got him from do various mouse and rat sizes, not sure about gerbils though but will enquire when i next go up, cheers for that :)

anticonscience - We got the actual tank from a friend but had to kit it out completely as they did not use it for a snake. Dave himself cost £50, but that is because he is a different colour, the normal ones were about £35. A whole setup will usually cost about £250-300. The main cost is for the heating £50 for a thermostat, £20 for the heater and a cage and then £10 for a decent digital thermometer. Apart from that it's just housing and stuff, we still need to get him a few things to climb on and a big bowl so he can go for a swim :D

And i doubt a corn snake would ever eye anything bigger than a rat up for a meal, its a corn snake, not a python!

Hope i answered most of the actual questions :)

There was me thinking the thread was about a crapy Ediie Murphy film and then find it was about snakes, great save!

Snakes are ace and I have to admit, Dave looks cool as pants.
Mice in the freezer - don't forget not to slap then in a sarnie when you get home with the beer goggles on!!

Yeah they are in a bag, on top of my chicken burgers :p
