Meet my sponsored dog

i have to agree with the masses here - it is a living creature and all, but £120 could save the life of more than one african child

build a well for example
medicines etc

Call me cold hearted, I don't care, I wouldn't mind if there were a few less sponsored dogs in the world. £120 could be put to far better use. It's a fact.

So? I'm sure the money you spent on a 2900gfx card could go to better use. But I guess your just selfish, don't help the starving, or cure cancer GET MORE FPSZ0RZ!

Sponsoring a dog is a good cause, well done :). My dog came from the RSPCA from bad conditions years ago, good place to get a dog.

I sponsored a dog, Beavis, it died, they told me this after they had took a further 3 months worth of sponsorship.

Bad dog Beavis.

You had to pay for the funeral a debt the dog had collected during its life. IT was in negative equity with several properties it owned you see,

*hic*

drunkd :D

I would be reasonably sure that my £120 actually goes to the Dogs Trust; I would be fairly sure that my donation, or the major % of it, went to some corrupt official in Africa rather than digging a well.

Don't want to start an argument about charities here; give to whoever you want. :)

So why can one still sponsor the mutt on the website? You are probably one of about 53 thousand people paying for his keep and you don't even get to visit?!?

Well this was already discussed - the sponsoring a single dog is a good way to get people involved. It takes more than a single donation to keep a dog for a month - they quote around £10 for it's food, plus shelter, vaccinations, vets fees, carers etc - so they need more than a single person per dog (especially if the person donates the minimum).

As for charities as a whole - I don't really care who people give to as long as they give. How many people on here saying the money should have gone to Africa actually donate to Africa themselves? It wasn't a case of the money going to the Dog Trust instead of Africa, it would have gone on beer if not to the Dog Trust I expect.

Anyway isn't he cute.

/me throws virtual ball :D

And you live a completely selfless life, who are you, Mother Teresa? Do you donate all your money to charity? Don't be a ******* retard. I give to charitable causes, for example while I was on placement last year a colleague's daughter died of a rare illness. He completed a 8 day sponsored bike ride to raise money for the hospice she was in. I think that's worth my money, as are aid efforts for the tsunami, Africa etc. I don't give all my money to charity, I like to treat myself as in my sig, but then I worked 40 hours a week to afford that, so who are you to tell me I can't buy a computer? I'm not denying the OP the right to chose who to donate to but I reserve the right to say it's also a stupid waste of money given other causes.

Our lass does this and is now on her 3rd dog after one died and another got rehomed. We can't have a proper dog as we are both out all day at work so this is kind of a compromise for her. Whether it's more worthy than other charities is not really the point. I guess it depends on whether you see human beings as some sort of evolutionary high point (ie better than dogs) or view us as just another species (dogs, humans, houseflies, whatever!)

I'd put money on the reason they wont let you visit him down to the fact he probably doesn't exist!

After all, you can't visit him or rehome him - these dogs are made up money spinners probably! They don't give you an option to rehome him - there's a rehoming section for that.

Excuse me but I don't recall saying that you couldn't buy a computer. I was mearly making the point that £120 which isn't much to you and I is wasted on stuff all the time so to say that his donating to a cause I think is reasonable worth while (although I can see why others are more worthwhile) as a "waste.of.money". I don't donate as much to charity as the OP, but neither do I flame what they do, it's easy to go "that money is just going to African dictators" or "omg no cure for cancer yet? ffs" with other charities anyway.

I think you should learn to spot a bit of sarcasm, my post wasn't meant to cause offence just say a point with a bit of humour, no need to get annoyed and try to be offensive.
