Meet the temp car... Possible disappointment inside.

Honestly? I would bin the 996 and stick to that. Made of ****ing cheese those 996

The TT will also be a much nicer place to be in. Seriously

Your right of course but I can't part with it. I thought about it, weighed up my options and decided that I can't let it go. I might think differently In a few weeks/ months but for now I plan to fix it.

When you rebuilt it first time what was done? How many miles since?
Seems extremely unlucky to me. :(

First time went something like this: Top end was stripped down, one head with a crack was sent off repaired and sent back, both heads skimmed, new chains, tensioners & guides, RMS, IMS flange, clutch, flywheel, some work was done on the heads to increase the cooling around key areas, new cooling rads, pipework, water pump, ltt, oil cooler, AOS, full custom overbore x-pipe exhaust. The entire rear suspension was also done around the same time. There was no work on the bottom end as the cylinders were really nice, no scoring what so ever. Same time it had new discs and pads all round, in terms of mileage we are probably around 5k since the rebuild which I get really isn't acceptable. I would take it back but the fella that owned the place I got it done at is serving a 26 year sentence as he went postal and ended up murdering his Mrs. This all happened the day I was due to pick my car up and ended up with me giving evidence against him in the trial.

So really taking it back is really not an option. You live and you learn, I thought I saved a few quid but it was a false economy :(

Holy beep beep!
Hope it is nothing major buddy as that is incredibly unlucky, I would strongly advise Hartech if you need more engine work, they seem to be the masters of rebuilding the Porsche engines and doing it right. :)

First one is an ejector seat for the wife (I cant remember what it was). Second is for the wind deflector. It has one that goes up and down when you press that button. There was also like a talky thing on the steering wheel so I think it has some bluetooth jaz perhaps?

That button is for the cabin crew warning light, you press it if there is an annoying passenger in the front passenger seat ;)

Welcome to the world of TT, you may find these forums handy http://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=19

Well it's back home - drove it the 100 or so miles back, it's a decent little cruiser, makes a decent growl and is typically vague handling wise in comparison to the 911. One thing I did notice is that it's incredibly easy to drive, the clutch is light, the brakes are assisted much more than the Porsche, steering is weighted nicely and overall it does what it should do. Stereo is also really quite nice heated seats are as well. So overall I think I am happy.

It doesn't put the same smile on my face as the Porsche but that was never the intention. It is a tool and I'm sure it will serve me well. A run out to Northampton on Wednesday should let me get better acuainted.
