So i was trying to clear and format an old drive however i mistakenly selected the wrong disk and set my EFI system partition as a data partition...

It now says 101mb unallocated... i haven't restarted my machine yet so i dont know what affect it will have... but judging with what i've read, it will probably not boot.

Is there anyway i can recover this?

Disk 0 is what i accidentally deleted, circled. Ignore Disk 1.. that's what i was trying to format.

I forgot to say i did the following when i accidentally converted my EFI partition to a data partition:

Change EFI system partition ID and set it as a data partition
Type the below command lines and hit Enter each time:

  • "list disk" (It displays all the disks of your computer. )
  • "sel disk 0" (It identifies which disk you need to work with. Here 0 stands for the disk letter.)
  • "list partition" (It displays all partitions and EFI system partitions on the selected disk.)
  • "sel partition 1" (Select the EFI partition that you want to delete. Here, 1 stands for the volume number of EFI.)
  • "SET ID=ebd0a0a2-b9e5-4433-87c0-68b6b72699c7"
Is there a SET ID to convert it back to a EFI system partition??

In all honesty, I would backup everything that is important to you from the C: drive. This partition is repairable from a Win10 Install USB (you'd simply boot to the USB then choose to repair startup). That will recreate that partition and do the rest, but as I said, DO NOTHING ELSE until you've backed up what you need from C:

I’ll give it a try, downloaded and created a bootable media USB from windows 10 website. I’ll see if that can repair the partition, be gutted if i can’t.

Already backed up everything on c: but just the annoyance of having to reinstall again.

Hmm odd one this, so i restarted my pc expecting it not to boot but low and behold it booted straight back into windows... no problems... but i still have a 100mb of unallocated space?

When windows was installed did you have a second drive connected? Sometimes windows will store this on another drive.

I’m on my mobile so can’t see the picture properly to see

I had 2 other drives connected at the time, i have disconnected those to try this theory but it still boots just fine... Still can't explain why i have a 100mb unallocated space that was supposed to be my EFI partition.

Weird ey.
