Ok so I turn on my PC today and find everything is not working :\

By this I mean all my programs have uninstalled themselves?

The shortcuts are not working and don't show the correct pictures, when I go direct to the programs it just says it cant find them?

I think this could be a hard drive problem but not 100% sure?

Ive did 2 system restores and its not fixing them, is my SSD and HDD failing?

Its basically removed everything on my PC, it cant just be one of the drives because the programs are split between the 2 drives.

Im so confused! Was working perfectly fine last night but I did get a windows update!!!!
 
Anything showing in the eventlog? It'll usually alert you in there if the drive is failing or a file system problem.

You may have one drive failing and the other one is fine tbh.
 
Do any of your programs run?
Are the Icons correct for the programs?
Both drives visible in Windows Explorer/Device Manager?

I would consider running Malware Bytes and see what it comes up with as well.
 
Nope nothings running its been totally wiped from my HDD!

Ive just downloaded a recovery tool and seen everything that was wiped and tried to restore it but it keeps bugging up on a restart.

Chrome is not even working anymore, im using crappy IE to talk on here :\

This is amazing, never came across anything like this at all.

The HDD scans look fine and theres nothing wrong with them.

I did try download something and it was trying to install on an F drive which I don't have and never have had? It wouldn't even let me select another drive.

WD Support were crap and don't even offer any recovery tools, this free thing im using is capped at 2GB for free.

Im gonna try get everything I need onto my external HDD and then flatten the lot. Im just gutted about all my saves that I cant find, ive spent 50+ hours on FF10 which I cant find plus many more games!

Another strange problem is its not picking up my gamepad when I plug it in now? It picked up my external HDD fine though?
 
Are the drives still physically full ???
Still logging into the correct account? Assuming you might just use default admin ?
Cant open progs by navigating to their install location or cmd prompt? (at a push)
 
Well it has lost about 2-3GB of apps.

Ive found most of them on that recovery too but some are just not showing up.

Ive got my FF10 saves now im shifting everything I need onto my external now.

I cant find programs like auslogics defragmenter and such which all have shortcuts on my desktop :\

I only use 1 login.

Even when ive recovered half the missing apps its asking me to reinstall them to use them.

Major issues here, my gamepad is working again I just needed to restart again.

I swear this all happened due to a windows update!

Scrap and rebuild is/was probably your best option to be honest but my guess would've been dodgy HDD with corrupt registry with the possibility that a nasty got in and did it. Either way, rebuild probs for the best but run some tests on the HDDs to be safe.

Had a virus on a server years back and McAfee was busily deleting things quicker than I could try and stop it and save the system. In the end you just get to the point where it can't be saved. So nuke from orbit and start again, it's the only way to be sure.

Lol, yeah i sure did nuke it! I think it is the HDD, it still being a bit funny with me, i tried to install a few things on it and it just wouldn't let me :S

Im gonna chop it up into partitions now and then i can nuke them 1 by one if they screw up hahaha

Took me a while to get FF10 working again on that sily PCSX2, but man whoever made that emulator is a genius! They are re-releasing ff10 again for the ps4 and psvito in march too in HD but with the emulator i can run it at super high res and it looks flawless! Only down side is crappy sound plugins :\
