Megson sacked (Sheff Wednesday, Tummy's team)

Being a forest fan we have history with muggo, but fair play to the fella, seemed to be doing ok in what is a very tough league one this year.

You have a couple of decent teams drop, a few that had been there abouts getting stronger over the last few years, to be honest to be at the echelon at this stage of the season for the final push... it's a bit of a puzzle.

You can only imagine that chairman and manager have had a ruck, and one must fall.
 
Up until Christmas we looked pretty good for automatic promotion. Ben Marshall was giving the team that little bit extra though. I thought that keeping the pace would come down to keeping him / getting a decent replacement or not.

Not really surprising we've been struggling for goals since then. I think that's cost Megson his job but it's always a possibility when you're relying on loan signings.
 
My dad has a ST and has been wanting this for months, every other Monday he tells me how abject, dire and aimless the football is and how he can't stand going to games anymore as Megson has sucked any enjoyment out of the game. He's delighted with the decision, but thinks the timing is a little strange

I think just about every team in the country has to put up with that opinion about their teams football. It's a common thing even with teams that are winning, looking good for promotion or doing something right!

Have to put up with it at Southampton a lot with fans banging on about how we have to just hoof it to someone and get on with winning :mad:

So yeah most football fans are a bit fickle.

My moneys on Megson and Manderic fell out, probably about the realism of getting an automatic place.
 
I've got some brilliant stories about Megson's time at Forest, if similar is going on behind the scenes at Wednesday, I'm not surprised Mandaric is sick of it. That said, the players are performing for him, which they weren't at Forest.

I was against Megson from the start (mainly due to his type of football) but honestly the football hasn't been that bad.

In terms of long ball, the derby game was the worst I've seen this season, I've been pleasantly surprised by how well Wednesday do with the ball on the floor given Megson's style.
 
Dave Jones is lined up as the replacement! (bbc officially instead of the half asleep mix up with the musician)

Think its a bit of a side step really, can't see him being any better than Megson and if they don't get him who else is an option?!?! (Gordon Strachen is my guess as he seemed to want to manage after that interview about rangers last week on the bbc online)
 
Big Mick is out of a job ;)

He came down a couple of times to watch us a while back when we were looking for a manager.

I said that he was in talks with Mandric :p (that and the lack of movement in the January market) which had put strain on the relationship with Megson ;)

I was just throwing Big Mick's name in to the pond :D

Well I think Dave Jones is rubbish, and I actually like Mick - So obviously, I'm hoping you get Jones! :p

So, anyway: recently dead musician it is, then. ;) [<- for ping's benefit :p]

Just looking at Jones' history: not once has he managed to immediately grab an underperforming team by the scruff of the neck and get instant success; he's a squad-builder. Nowt wrong with that normally, but that's obviously not what Mandaric is after.

Anyway, it's going to be fun seeing whether Dave can rise to the challenge.

He's now got the job ;)

Renewing my season ticket tonight too, hopefully be back in the Championship next season.

The lack of January signings now make a bit more sense.

Heh, I saw.. Couple of my mates are practically in tears texting me. I guess they like him as much as I do? :o

Well, that's what they get for singing nasty songs at me Sunday, isn't it? :P hehe I do actually want you to go up though, Championship would be boring without a Sheffield derby! :(

Edit: That is ofc assuming we go up. Ha!

Hate this decision. Mandaric is expecting too much I think even if he is the owner, just doesn't understand football in my opinion. I'll miss Megson.

The wound is still too fresh to get excited over Jones but to be honest he is a good manager and has been rather unlucky not to be managing in the Premier League again really I think. Being negative before he's even seen over a game is not the way.
 
Well, I've got out my knife and my fork, and am ready to tuck in to a generous helping of humble pie.

Dave's done very well indeed so far, and annoyingly/surprisingly it looks like Mandaric has made a great decision :o

Anyone else brought their cutlery?

I'm still not inspired by Dave Jones, he's doing very well with Wednesday though.

What his record now, 3 games, 3 wins, scored 9 and conceded 2?

Playing much better football then under Megson, but it was at times hard to play worse football then Megson :p
