I highly recommend this product for removing scratches and blemishes...

These marks wouldn't come out with normal car shampoo no matter how hard I rubbed but after using Meguiars Ultimate Compound and rubbing it in thoroughly using an applicator pad I was able to remove the marks.

All I know for sure was that I had good results with the ultimate compound, this gives me great confidence in the product and gets my recommendation.

Good brand but pricey, i guess you get what you pay for

After my experience with the Turtle wax stuff from the local motor factors, I decided to order the Meguiars Ultimate Compound from a well known internet store and it was £ 11.12 ex VAT with free delivery.

Not that expensive really and now I know it works and is safe to use.

I've never been happy enough with the finish to call it an "all-in-one" though and had to finish up with something a bit less abrasive to get rid of the haze.

All I did to finish was wash it down with some Armor All wash and wax then I dried it with a microfibre drying towel. It looks good to me.

Anyway back on topic I’ve ordered some of that Autoglym AG 193251 Intensive Tar Remover and will try that next time I have what looks like tar spots.

Best deal I could find for Autoglym AG 193251 Intensive Tar Remover, 325ml was £ 7.55 on eBay...

Unfortunately they don't deliver to Jersey so the next best was Ozaroo UK on the Amazon marketplace for £ 8.28 ex VAT. Amazon themselves want £ 6.70 inc VAT but you have to spend over £ 20 to get that price.

Certainly a quick Google reveals turtle wax equal to it's peers, like AG tar remover. But then, that's Joe public reviews for you. Best accept them and move on because, well, that's what the internet said.

I get the impression the Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover is more of a bug remover then a tar remover, and there are better products available for tar removal.

But what do I know, I’ve got some AG tar remover on order and I’ll see how well it works in a few months and if it’s not good I’ve got Meguiars Ultimate Compound to fall back on.

I’ve used Meguiars Ultimate Compound on my car on two separate occasions in the last six months and I think I’ve got away with it so far without damaging the paint.

Won’t be using it again unless it’s absolutely necessary and I hope Autoglym intensive tar remover can do a similar job without being abrasive but I have my doubts.

This photo was taken back in January before I used Meguiars Ultimate Compound for the first time...

The second time I used it last week, it wasn’t really tar spots but sort of caked on dirt that I couldn’t remove with shampoo and a wash mitt alone. Should have taken a photo of it.

So I have my doubts that Autoglym intensive tar remover will be as effective on these types of marks if they’re not strictly tar spots.

you let the shampoo soak in - with multiple passes ?
I mostly use the two bucket wash, soaping bonnet/roof/sides about 3 times, over 15mins, but have left a soaked cloth on birds muck for an hour, but, that is not as easy on a vertical surface.

I use the two bucket method as well with grit guards in both buckets, I tried my best to remove these stubborn marks using Armor All wash and wax and a microfibre wash mitt but they weren’t coming off.

It wasn’t until I rubbed Meguiars Ultimate Compound in that I got some results, but am now put off it due to it’s abrasiveness.
