My Wii arrives on friday, what do you need the memory sticks for? Is it just save games etc?

Or is that where you can download the older Snes games etc onto..?

I know the prices of the cards aren't that much at all, but still.

I won't be using the Wii for any media playback, even if it's an option

Yes, but even then only where supported. The 512mb internal memory has done me fine for saves etc. Ive heard of a few people filling their internal memory with VC games and having to use a memory stick but not many.

Can't you also use the memory card to show photos etc, and mess about with them by drawing on them, and making some kind of puzzles etc? I seem to remember seeing something about that in the manual? (or am I dreaming?!)

You can.

Sorry, I'd forgotten about that !

He doesn't want to do any media playback on it though so he doesn't need an SD card for now.

thanks for the quick info guys, much appreciated

don't think i'll need VC, as i've got the older consoles, and the emulators & roms for the console & games i own on my pc

maybe goldeneye if that comes out :)

Very unlikely from what I hear, as Microsoft own all the IP since they acquired Rare, or something, and they're hardly going to be in a hurry to licence one of the best multiplayer FPS games to a console that's outselling their own offering!

The main problem with Goldeneye is all the rights issues with regards to James Bond.

Rare, although wholly owned by M$ since Nintendo sold their 51% stake a few years ago, still produce games for the Nintendo DS, as well as having older SNES titles on the virtual console already (Donkey Kong Country etc...). I'm sure their N64 titles will follow suit ... afterall, it's money for old rope.

Aye, don't EA own the rights to the Bond IP now?
