hi guys,

i'm in the process of beefing up an old system a little bit to allow me to play some (more) modern games on...

anyway, its a 3.2 gig pentium 4, and running in an SB75G2 shuttle... i just managed to bag a bargain on the auction site of an X800 XT Platinum for 18 quid, and i also want to whack it up to 2 gig...

to my surprise, 2x1GB of PC3200 is still going for well over the 40 quid mark  - i am in absolute disbelief how they haven't devalued as much as everything else from that era, just look at the cost of the X800!

besides, the point of this thread is to ask if i can buy some more modern ram which for whatever reason is a lot cheaper, will it be backwards compatible or do i really have to fork out nearly double the cost of modern 6400 sticks?

i would have thought that the mobo on that system is ddr1 so you could try picking some cheap of the bay . other than that you havent got much choice. im more suprised that ocuk still stock them.

i managed to get hold of some 2x1GB Micron PC3200 for £26 delivered... much happier with that price...

got a reasonable system now for bugger all money :)
