Memory card for DSLR

For photos 16GB cards are fine, if you start videoing then 64GB are a must !

There's about to be about an hour of footage on a 16GB card (at 1080p) isn't there. Do you really need more? I'll grant you, if shooting at 4K then I can see yhy 64GB makes sense. Also changes if you have two memory cards with one the automatic backup of the other. If that's the case then memory card breakages are less of an issue, but I'm guessing most amateurs won't be doing that.
 
Thanks for the info guys, really appreciate it. I've found a few SanDisk cards on the Rainforest, would that fall into the potentially dodgy category some of you have mentioned or is it a safe bet?

Good shout on the two smaller v one bigger cards too, didn't think of the potentail failure of a card.

Yes, the rainforest are fine as long as it is them supplying direct and not a third party seller
 
I've had all my sandisk from Amazon and they have been fine, just run it through a quick speed check as soon as you get it make sure it checks out.
