ok... i bought an x-pro floppy drive bay memory card reader for my pc.. i installed it when i built my pc, and when i was turning it on, it was coming up with a little box which says 'windows-no disc' ' there is no disc in the drive'

because the cable for the card reader was a bit too short for my liking, i unplugged it, and without me realizing, the little box stopped...

now.. today, ive moved it to a place where the cable will reach.. it was coming up with the same box, so i unplugged it again to see if it was the reader.. and apparently, it is....

so.. what i want to know, is there any reason why it would be doing this??

Looks like something at startup is trying to read from the card reader. Try deleting items from the recent documents folder in my docs.

Sounds simple, but it once took me hours to figure out why windows was tyring to access the floppy drive just after the logon screen. Cleared recent documents and the problem went away.

Other than that, try inserting a card and restart. Does the error still appear? If not, remove the card while in windows and then reboot.

Did any software come with the reader? It may be running at startup and trying to access the reader automatically.

Sorry :(

I should have mentioned that this folder is hidden. You can do the same by right clicking the start button, then go, properties/start menu/customize/advanced. At the bottom there is a recent documents section. Click the clear all button.
