Memory Choice!

Going with x79 and will be looking to get 2 lots of 8gb 1866 Dual Channel RAM.

Which would be better?

Patriot Intel Extreme Masters
Corsair Vengeance LP Blue

What chip are you going to use? Tbh you should be looking at a decent 1866/2133 kit minimum for x79, especially if you plan to use a 3820 as higher clocks require strap changes which also adjust memory clocks.

I will be using the 3820 and will be aiming to overclock around 4.5-4.8 depending how it goes and if i'd needed.

The Corsair LP is 2133 and the Patriot is 1866.

Thinking about it, I still prefer the Patriot even if the Corsair is £10 cheaper.

Looks good to me, I say higher speed memory as you may need to slightly under or over clock the memory when pushing clocks over 4.3ghz on the 3820
