I'm looking into investing in a new system soon based around the AMD AM3 Socket and have been looking into purchasing the Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P motherboard.

I've checked the specs and it says on the Gigabyte website that this has 4 DDR3 Memory slots @ 1.5v

My question is, does the memory have to run @ 1.5v? or will the motherboard just detect it as 1.5v and then be adjusted in the BIOS after to suit the correct voltage for the memory?

I appreciate any replies

I am also confused about this... I seem to get stability problems when I leave the voltage of the ram on default. I changed the voltage to the actual voltage rating that is written on the spec of the ram (In my case, It was 1.8v) and the instability problem went away emmidiately, never had a crash or BSOD ever.. been using my PC for a couple of weeks now, and Its rock stable with 1.8v on the RAM. Don't know if anyone's experienced what I experienced though, maybe its just with my system as I haven't yet updated the BIOS. But hope that helped.

That's what I was thinking that you would just be able to change the voltage in the BIOS to suit the specific brand of memory.

Thanks guys for both of your replies
