Memory fault testing

Hey guys, i work in IT repair and a big bug bear, not to mention time consumer, is diagnosis of bad memory. If a computer is crashing first check is HDD easy enough to test next is memory then mobo. But memory at the mo is left to replace and hope something that is both costly and a waste of time.

What software or gadget would you guys reccommend for a fairly fool proof memory diagnostic on an unstable system?

download System Rescue CD, boot up onto that, then run memtest
