memory foam - any tried it?

We've got a King-size pocket-sprung mattress with a built in foam 'topper' and for the last 6 months I've had the best nights sleep of my life :D Me and the wife haven't found any noticeable problems when 'getting jiggy with it' and I have no problems rolling over or with it creating a meteor shape where I sleep at night :)

IIRC we paid ~ £500 from Dreams for just the mattress

Yeah, mattresses with 1 inch foam built in don't give jiggy issues, but we've got a 3 inch topper as well, and 4 inches of foam doesn't give much resistance. :(

urgh your dad is sleeping on the same bed you have sex on, grose.

I had to sleep in my older brothers bed when looking after his house and dogs while he was on holiday:(

But by hell did me and my girlfriend give the springs a work out:D

I bought one last year, there's quite a few types, so you should go and test a lot before you buy since you do use it every night.

I got mine on sale at Dreams for £899 with two drawers and a headrest. Possibly one of the best purchases I made last year. The first night took me a while to sleep due to new pillows. But ever since then I can't lie in bed and watch TV because I just drift off to sleep.

My GF hates staying in her own bed now, which is a pocket spring matress.

We have a pocket sprung mattress with a memory foam mix as the top layer and it's absolutely the best bed I've ever slept in! Have tried pure memory foam and as above I used to wake up in a pool of sweat feeling like i'd wet myself!

Go the pocket spring and topper route.

After having a try of a Waterbed many years ago, i was won over by it, and purchased my very own, and never looked back since, its still as it was new and its now coming up to 4 years ago, its also the ONLY bed i have owned that my feet dont hang over the bottom of it (im 6'3) and the bed is 6'5 long, plus its heated so in the winter, you dont want to get out of bed, and in the summer you turn the heat off so its cool when you get into it :D

If your thinking of getting a new bed, have a go of a Waterbed, try one out at your loval store, but i ordered mine online and they delivered and installed it for cheeper than what any local place could match :)

Awful i sweat like a pig on them !, i used to stay and my mates house in her bed with her and used to wake up think i've wet my self it'd be so sweaty. not good ;)

Strange, I've never woke sweaty after a nights sleep on mine, and I have a heavy winter goose feather duvet and wear a t-shirt.

Could be the different kinds I guess.

How do you do nookie in a water bed?
You would be certainly making some waves:p

Plus some people have higher body temps than others.

My gf is rather cool, whereas I am very warm.

I've only woke up sweaty on the foam once, and that was because the heating came on and the room was 25ºC

We had a very expensive fully foam mattress and after a few months noticed that it was going mouldy on the underside, presumably from sweat. Sister in law had the same exact same issue with her mattress. I found it was by far the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on so it was a real shame it went rotten.

I bought a cheap memory foam topper, £30 from B&M. I sleep on just that, no mattress. I haven't used a mattress or a bed for many years - before the foam topper, I just slept on a duvet.

It was spectacularly comfortable for a few months, but is now just like a thin layer of foam. The support has completely gone and it no longer feels like "memory" foam. When I first had it, it required quite a bit of force to compress it. Now, it doesn't.

I don't know if this is due to:
i) It being cheap and obviously low quality.
ii) Using Fabreeze anti-bacterial spray to clean it.
iii) Putting it under too much compression by sleeping on it without a mattress underneath.

Does anyone know? I suspect (iii), but I'm not sure.

It was very comfortable, though, and not too sweaty for me. No worse than sleeping on a duvet.

I work at Dunelm Mill and it's our top selling product from the bedding department.
The only thing to remember is that it's coated in fire resistant stuff so has to be aired for a few days before use.

i was going to get a memory foam one but decided to get a better quality pocket sprung bed reason being is asked him what he would go for and said everytime pocket sprung and apparently you get extremely hot pocket sprung is your best option

During my time in China, I had to use Chinese style mattresses which are like a standard UK spring matress, but very hard. It took a while to get used to, but the benefits soon became clear; I got a decent nights sleep every time and always woke up refreshed and not all twisted under myself.

So I came back here and got a foam mattress with my new bed. It doesn't bounce at all and I love it. All my family say they think it would be uncomfortable, but it's really not. It's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

But maybe my body just prefers those kinda mattresses, I dunno.

Punctuation is your best option.
