Just purchased a brand new Acer Aspire M1610 from Comets for £229.99.

Just got it setup and it's loaded with Microsoft Windows Vista Premium and it's slow as a Snail, here's the specifications.

400 Watt Powersupply Unit.
Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 @ 1.6Ghz.
512MB DDR2 PC5300 667MHz 5-5-5-15.
Integrated SiS Mirage 3 Graphics.
Integrated Realtek High Defenition Audio.
Western Digital SATA-II 160GB 8MB Cache Hard Disk.
Samsung SATA-II DVD-RW Drive With LightScribe.
Multi Card Reader.

I know badly it needs memory and a decent graphics card and i'm prepared to add these as soon as possible.

Only problem is I have no manual to explain what types of DDR2 memory I can use on this motherboard so I have included some screensnaps below so that someone here can help advice on what is the best/fastest memory I can fit to this machine.

Any help or advice would be excellent, Thanks in advance.

Oops! I assumed an Acer would be a notebook

Have you had a look to see what the memory voltage options are in the BIOS?

Hey Cob.

Just checked the BIOS and it seems that ACER has taken all those options away from the user.

I've posted screensnaps above from CPUID not sure what you can gather from that information.

Since it's an 800mhz E2140 that can't be overclocked, there's no need to get anything faster than PC5300. That'll also make it easier to choose since you probably need 1.8v stuff.

Either of these three should be fine-

The last one will be slightly faster, but I've no idea if it can run at its 4-4-4-12 settings in your board.

Hey Cob.

Thanks a lot for the help, i've decided to go for the Corsair 2GB DDR2 Value Select PC2-5300C5 Dual Channel Kit (2x1GB) (VS2GBKIT667D2).

These should just plug and play without any problems as they are the same as the 512MB stick except 2x1GB versions of it, can't see there being a problem with that in my system.

Hey Cob.

Thanks for the help, looking to add a mid range graphics card later on should give me a serious performance increase with the 2GB memory.
