Memory Management BSOD

Right have had this BSOD twice today it might be connected to trying to install Avast as both times it happened i was trying to install Avast Free reading online about the error code : 0x0000001A

Some people seem to think it could be about hardware not fully installed
but as this has happened twice and ONLY when i am trying to install Avast Free
i am not too sure what to think about that.

Has anyone else encountered this error, could it be because i am trying to install the Vista version of Avast free - is there a Win7 version of it?

I assume you mean Avast Anti-virus free edition: http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Latest version supports Windows 7 32/64bit editions.

yes. if its not that i thought it could be due to it happening twice while trying to install it.
i read elsewhere that some people have had it due to Faulty RAM while another had it due to the Motherboard not giving the RAM enough power

Have you run mem test to check the ram and increased the voltage to 1.64v which is usually needed.

ah im running the Memtest now - havent increased the voltage - how do i do that?

right MemTest completed a cycle and found no errors so it might be down to this voltage thing
how do i increase the voltage?

i checked through the BIOS and if its an option its very well hidden
how do i increase the voltage - how do i check the current voltage?

Check ddr voltage, probably be set at 1.5v, what motherboard are you using.

i dont know how to check the voltage - i cant find it in the BIOS

i looked through the BIOS and couldnt find any option - if its there its well hidden!

Go to advance in the BIOS look for Jumperfree config then hopefully scroll to Memory Over voltage control and increase the voltage.

right i have found it - so i just set it to 1.64? at the moment its set to Auto
it wont go to 1.64 - every time i set it to that it changes to 1.65000 is that okay? or too high?

Yes, if you can check the modules as these will should show what voltage on a sticker.

how do i do that?
i found Memory OverVoltage and have it set at 1.65 is there anything else i should do
while i am in the BIOS?

Look at the actual memory module, usually they have a sticker showing recommended voltage and timings.

Have you checked the memory speed to ensure they are running at the correct speed, again this should be in the BIOS.

What memory are you using.

ah so you mean take it out and check it? is there anywhere online that i can find the info
on the above it says 1.65v so i guess that should be okay?

will do, i might try and reinstall Avast and see what happens as both times i got the error was during installing that.
