Memory Mhz wrong??

Hi guys looking for support on my RAM

I have this ram

And a Gigabyte z97mx gaming 5 board.

It is set at default as 1600Mhz but when i set the bios to set the ram for 2400Mhz it shoots up to 1.692v and makes my system unable to boot :S

What am i doing wrong here?

just because the ram will do 2400Mhz, and your board/CPU will support 2400Mhz it dont mean you can run it at 2400Mhz.
start at 1600 and go up one speed raiting at a time untill you cant boot then drop down to the last stable setting

What motherboard / CPU do you have

Z97MX-Gaming 5 and i5 4690K

did you select xmp in bios?

Just updated the bios to F4 as suggested going to try the overclock now.

It boots not stable though its iffy on if it wants to make desktop or not.

Voltage on anything over 1600Mhz is 1.692 is that right?
