Update - machine was running with original 4GB stick on an XMP profile 1 and quite happily booted into this "overclock" with memory speed at 2400MHz + other settings chosen by the XMP profile 1 setting.

I added a new 2nd 4GB stick of exactly same spec and it refused to boot with the XMP Profile 1 overclock at 2400MHz.

I removed the XMP Profile 1 overclock and the PC booted with the memory at 2133MHz.

I then manually set the memory in the BIOS to 2400MHz. Again it booted. Is there something wrong somewhere?

It's Corsair Vengeance LPX memory which is supposed to be happy with XMP overclock settings?

Am I doing something wrong somewhere please?

FURTHER UPDATER -Put in slots A2 and B2 and seems tp work on XMP profile 1. which slots should be used first please?

The motherboard manual will usually tell you.
It's usually slot zero and slot 2.

Or slot one and three, depending on how it's written.
