Memory not working on new motherboard

Changed motherboards from a F2A88X-D3H to a Z97X-Gaming 7 board.
The RAM is XMS3 and comes in 2x4GB and 2x2GB for a total of 12GB.
The RAM works on my other boards but not this one. Testing it in another system right now as a matter of fact... will need to get thermal paste though to properly run it. I am currently using a single 4GB stick of Vengeance which is barely enough for my machine.

The CAS on both sticks is 9-9-9-24.

Motherboard info:
Version: F6
BIOS ID: 8A06AG0I.
CPU: Intel i7 4790k

I checked the BIOS timings and they also say that it's set to 9-9-9-24.
I reinstalled Windows 8.1, when the 12GB RAM was in, it would blue screen.
With the vengeance RAM, it would install with no problems.

There is no XMP profile listed on my motherboard either, so if that's the problem I'm not sure how to go about changing it.

I already purchased a set of 8GB Vengeance now to replace the RAM... but this problem could be a lot worse if I don't check it out and find the cause of it. If you need any more information, ask me and I'll try and provide it.

Up the timings to 10-10-10-28 or so.

Try at a slightly lower clock speed.

Often you can't max it out with 4 sticks. My sticks are 2400 11-11-11, and any two run at that, but with 4 I get crashes over 2133.
 
Have you updated the motherboard to the latest bios? The cpu support list says that F6 (the latest bios) is needed for the 4790k which could be the cause of some of your problems. Latest bios revisions also improved memory compatibility. Download and unzip to a usb stick, reboot and enter the bios and use Q-Flash to flash the bios. Best to do it with only the single working stick in place.

I just checked Gigabytes BIOS page and F6 I the latest one. My board is up to date, and since I use the 4790k I need this BIOS version to make sure my CPU works properly... to lower the bios to F4 where it say memory compatibility improved would seem like a step back.

I'll give that a go tomorrow when I get time. I should be getting my other RAM modules in the post tomorrow so I will be swapping thing around anyway.
I'll let you know how that ends.
