I have a very old setup :(

(but just you wait kids, when i have a full time job i'm going to show you what real money can buy!!)

Anyway, i have a 1.8 p4 processor, with a msi 845e MAX motherboard (intel 845 chipset) with some pc3200 memory.

The problem i am having is getting my memory to actually run at 200fsb.

I can clock my processor to 2.6 ghz no problem, but my memory will still run at a low speed :(

Right now i have set my fsb to 133mhz which at a multiplier of 18 = 2.4ghz.

On my motherboard i only have the setting to get the memory to run at 200 or 266 or AUTO. None of these settings are helping me to get to 200mhz fsb (pc3200 speed).

I think i have had this problem before, but not sure what i did, if anyone has any light on the situation it will be greatly appreciated!

It should be on either Auto (if it realises your memory can do quicker than default) or 133/266. It seems odd that it doesn't work though.

Is the board running the latest BIOS?

200 FSB on an 18X multiplier would put your processor at 3.6Ghz... i'll tell you now you're not going to get a Northwood A to that on anything short of a lot of volts and phase change - and that's if you get lucky.

2.6Ghz is a good overclock, and you might be able to push it a little further if you increase the vcore a little more.

However, I imagine the board only supports PC2100 and PC2700, which doesn't helpt you get the most out of your PC3200 unless you can run your memory out of sync with the FSB. 3:4 should get you nearer 200Mhz.

Thanks :)

The processor can go around 2.7ghz without any vcore adjust (not to stable!) Haven go adequate cooling to whack the vcore up!

The max fsb i get out of the memory is 187, which i guess i should be happy with!
