Hey guys, at the moment I have 2 GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kits, giving me 4GB on a Vista 64bit Installation.

I mainly use my PC for gaming, photo work, bluray films etc with a lot of multi tasking of jobs.

I was looking at getting the new Intel CPU but in all honesty, I can't afford to spend the money for a new CPU, new mobo, and DDR3 memory, especially not when its all so expensive at the moment.

To keep me going for another 1 to 1 1/2 yrs with my current setup, I was thinking about selling the memory I have a the momen, and putting 8GB in...what benefits would I see in the long run? With DDR2 being fairly cheap at the moment, and considering I don't OC...what memory would you recommend if I was to buy 8GB of memory?

4gb is more than enough to handle pretty much any game out there, when it comes to other tasks like multitasking, its more about your CPU.

You should be fine, and it'd be better to just save your money for now and therefore have more to spend later on, when prices drop even furthur. =]

The main components of my rig at the moment are;

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3ghz
4GB Geil PC2-6400C4 800MHz
ATI Radeon HD4870

HDD's are being changed in the next week or so and havent decided what yet
