my question is > I built a ryzen 1600 system a few weeks ago with the below specs

ryzen 1600
asus b350 prime +
vengeance lpx @2400mhz 16gb
powercolor rx480
2x Kingston savage 250gb ssd's
win 10 x64

today I decided to change the ram for adata ddr4 3000 xpg 2x8gb , rebooted after setting it to 2933 as there was no xmp/docp setting in the bios . all it did was beep 3 times and rebooted and it did it 3 time before shutting down and rebooting after 30 seconds running at a speed of 2666mhz , after many tries the best I can get it to run is 2800mhz . should I return it for refund and get a different ram ? (never had this problem before on any system I have built)

Ryzen is really sensative to certain types of RAM. Most sets have trouble running at rated sets. Samsung B-die sets usually run at rated speeds or better on Ryzen.

If you were really concerned, I would return the previous 3000mhz set and get:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £197.58 (includes shipping: £8.70)

only reason I got this ram as it was listed as designed for ryzen and it is listed on the below page

AX4U300038G16-SGZ

XPG Gaming Memory Z1 Series
Designed for AMD Ryzen
http://www.xpg.com/en/amd_ryzen/

while it says designed for ryzen I rechecked the support on my mobo but the only one listed at the same speed is AX4U300038G16-DBZ which is not the same but says it will run at 2933

yep change you motherboard and get some 8pack dimms they have been proven to work. have a look at the ocuk YouTube channel and check out 8pack vids with ryzan and his dimms and buy the same config to try garrentee compatibility
