Hi Guys

Bought this kit, http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-148-CS

I have a gigabyte 965p-ds3p motherboard.

Now Ive either paid extra for ram thats not worth it or i have a problem.

I bought this to give me a bit of extra leeway when overclocking.

On my bios settings it comes up at 800, now i thought this was because of the CPU FSB but now I am thinking it is not?

No matter what my CPU clock is as default should it show 1066 as default for ram? is this because my motherboad doesen't officially support 1066? so is sticking to 800

Ram is at the correct voltage, and i have added extra faults to it but makes no difference.

What i have to do is set the multiplier to 2.5 so it comes to 1033 but it isnt even running at its default speed then.

Am i right in thinkings its 533 then a multiplier of 2 would make it 1066. It has nothing to do with the cpu frequency?

I have tried overclocking it to around 1150 but it just wont do.

So for now ive put my old 2 gig of ram in so ive got 6, but memory timings is only 926.

Am i being silly here? for it to at least run at 1066 do i need a new motherboard that officially supports it? Because i dont think i should have to set mu multiplier to 2.5 just to get it anywhere near its correct speed?

Thanks in advance

Matt

Even on MOBOs that "officially" support 1066 memory you will have to set the speed manually in the BIOS. This is normal as DDR2 memory boots at MOBO and JEDEC defaults of 5,5,5,15 timings at DDR800.

In your specific case, the divider you must use does not give you exactly 1066. You can simply bump up the CPU FSB a few mhz and get your memory to 1066.

Hi guys

thanks for responses.

Reg uping the CPU FSB, thats already done, my E6600 is at 3.7 ghz :-D

Quick question, would you rather 4GB of my new stuff at 1033 or which I have just done is wack my old 2 gig of ram in aswell making it 6 but only running at 920 ish.

I am on vista 64 btw

Thanks
