I was wondering, reading a few topics on the difference between 667 and 800mhz DDR2 ram, and reading more about how DDR2 faster than 800 is only useful for overclocking, when does it really start to make a difference?
I currently have 4GB of DDR2 800 running at 1063mhz. Is the only benefit to that over 800 the fact that i have increased it up and beyond my FSB? Would it be notably quicker than 4GB of 667?
Obviously DDR3 is going even higher, so will we only notice a real difference when we get to say, 1600mhz? At what point does sheer speed overtake tighter timings?
I know technology is released to us at a rate by which we never (or rarely) notice any massive performance gains, but my curiosity has the better of me with regards to my first query.
