Hi, I've just bought this memory, installed it in my P5W DH Deluxe, with a P4 3.4ghz Cpu. (Waiting for a the price drop).

When I boot, it displays as PC2-5300 rather than PC2-6400, which I would have expected. Is this because of the CPU I am running?

Many thanks.

I think the P5W has trouble reading the timings on this RAM. You may need to increase the voltage in the bios to run at PC6400 speeds.

EDIT: In fact I'm right, the answer is here

In general, the memory is going to boot at less than PC6400 due to the SPD. It boots at lower speeds based on the SPD so it can boot at the low default voltage of the MOBO. This is normal regardless of CPU. When you raise your RAM speed manually, you may also need to raise the RAM voltage.

Just my luck eh, buying ram which is not 100% compatible with my motherboard. Nevermind. Will be upgrading to a P35 soon enough, after the Quad Drops.

Its not the only RAM that does that - my OCZ 4GB was the same - had to increase the volts to get it to run at its rated speed.
