Good Evening All

Sorry for what may appear to be a simple question. I am setting up a new Shuttle 37P2 with a Conroe 6600. In the memory section should my memeory be set to 533 or 667? I assume 533 as DDR = 533*2 to give thw 1066 bus?

Thanks

the different numbers are the mhz rating of the meomory assuming that no overclocking has taken place. i would assume 533 also but does depend on what memory you bought.

also most mobos can autodetect memory and set it itself. allthoigh not allways at its opitmum speed.

If you've got 5300 or 6400 ram, then run upclock dividers to run them at stock. You'll get better performance.

Core 2 runs quad pumped bus. 1066 comes for 266 (default FSB) * 4 = 1066.
Memory speed is double data rate, so 266 * 2 = 533.

Thanks for the answers guys

When you state that I need to "then run upclock dividers to run them at stock", how do I achieve this? I can set the memory to either 533 or 667 and the FSB as well. I don't see an option to change the CPU multiplier though. My overclocking days were on RAMBUS bases systems so this is quite new

Thanks

1:1 divider would run the ram sync with the CPU's FSB, ie 266 or PC 4200.
Upclock dividers run the ram faster than the CPU's FSB ie as you mentioned above 533 or 667.
