Keep getting blue screen after overclocking and have to restart. I'm a bit confused with the memory timings. Can anyone give me some advise.

My specs

CPU DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800, 2200 MHz (10 x 220)
MB Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
RAM 1024 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM 200Mhz)
Video NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GS (256 MB)
Hardrive Maxtor 6Y120P0 (120 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/133)
OS MS Pro

Thanks v much in advance.

You need to put the RAM on a divider when overclocking on the A64 platform, alternatively you can loosen the timings but I'd advise just using a divider. Try setting it to DDR333 (or 166). Also you need to drop the HT from 5x (or auto) to 4x. Timings vary depending on your RAM, what brand and model are they? Leave the timings on auto, or set them manually. They're generally given in the order CAS(or CL)-tRCD-tRP-tRAS (eg 3-3-3-8)

Thanks for the reply. I know this is probably the simplest thing but what is a divider and how do I use it? Also my ram is Kingston brand (it's fairly old) don't know the model.

Would I need to increase the voltage?

With gigabyte boards, you need to hit CTRL+F1 on the main bios screen first in order to access RAM timings, dividers etc. Nah you wont need to increase the voltage, just set the ram timings to auto and they should run at stock. A divider allows you to run the ram at or below stock whilst you increase the fsb, so it doesn't limit you in your overclock. It could be called 'memclock index value' or just 'memclock' but it'll be set to DDR400 (200) or auto atm, just change it to DDR333 (166). Feel free to post bios screenshots and I'll try to guide to the right setting.
