Memory timings

Hello all my first post here

I'm after a bit of advice regarding memory timings. I'm currently running a q6600 on gigabyte p35-ds4 prime stable at 3.0 ghz load temps 58.
I have 4 gb Corsair DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 current memory timings are 5-5-5-18 running at 2.1v. I cannot get the system to post at 4-4-4-12.
Any idea's why this could be ?

Would uping the voltage to the northbridge help or uping the memory voltage ?

Because you have overclocked it along with the processor. Go back into bios and change memory multiplier to 2.40 or 2.00. Use CPUZ to see what speed its running at, at the moment.

Up the RAM voltage.

Try 2.2V then 2.3V

I found that 2.2V usually got them working

Memory is currently running at 499.5 mhz. FSB Dram 2:3(not sure what this means)

Thats almost 1000MHZ (200MHz faster than it should be) Try setting a memory divider i.e. locking your RAM at 800, 12,4,4,4 2.1V,

Are you running your FSB at 1333MHZ X 9 Multiplier?

Is is ok to run it at 2.2v 24/7 if that works ?

I presume it if i lock it at 800mhz i will lose a bit off performance compared to it running at 1000mhz. That extra 200mhz will provide better performance than tighter memory timings right ?

If it's prime stable at 1000mhz 5-5-5-18 and 2.1v I'd be tempted to keep it as it is.

You won't get 4-4-4-12 with 2.2v at 1000mhz.

But benchmark 800mhz 4-4-4-12 and 1000mhz 5-5-5-18 to see if one is a little faster than the other.

Check yor FSB settings first. 499.5 is a sizeable overclock for that RAM, Are you running 1333MHz FSB X 9 Multiplier (333FSB in BIOS)?

With intel chips yes. They are far less sensitive to tight timings than AMD.
None of that matters unless its stable though

Andy yeah im running 1333 fsb. Basically ive gone from 266 to 333 and its very stable. Im pretty new to this so from reading through a few guides uping the fsb sounded easy

cob ill benchmark at 4-4-4-12 next got 12329 in 3d mark with 1333 fsb.
