Memory to go with 9800x3d

I have got 8200MHz-CL38 Team T-Force Delta RGB 48GB (M die) to use it with Asus Crosshair X870E. There was a sale on a US based web store.

I am planning to go for 2:1 mode at full speed. Worst case scenario 1:1 at 6400CL28. I didn't want to risk the IMC lottery.
That's amazing RAM. Pretty much, if you want to get good RAM that can OC and performs pretty well no matter what the speed and don't mind spending the extra money, a 48gig M Die kit is at the top of the S tier list.

Which exact model number is that RAM?

I have a kit of TeamGroup 8000 MT/s A Die 32gig that I want to use in either an LGA1700 or an AM5 build and manually tune the RAM to see what the hype around DDR5 is actually like but it's a slow upgrade process and I'm in no rush (I am trying to find a damaged high-end motherboard like a Maximus Hero X or Apex that I can repair).

Buildzoid just posted a TLDR guide to RAM on Twitter that I'll post here when I find it.

Thanks! I believe it's the best RAM kit available that you can purchase with 9800X3D as the performance / value wise. Top speed, great latency and M die. Moreover, it's currently discounted on a US based computer web store.

The model number is FF3D548G8200HC38EDC01. I look forward to testing the new CPU.

My first AM5 build, and I'm also in the queue for 9800x3d. I just picked up some g.skill trident z royals 6000 cl28 expo kit. Pretty much the lowest latency kits on the market, and bling to boot. I intend to run at 6000 and squeeze as much out the timings, as this works best on AM5 I believe. Faster ram doesn't mean more performance, unlike Intel.

Right! Because the speed comes from the cache, not the RAM. Above 6000 the increase in speed is supposedly negligible until you get to 9000, which is almost impossible. But certainly, getting the lowest latency is a plan.

Not true. Non-X3D chips provides better performance with high rate memory chips, e.g. 7600MT/s and above. X3D chips do great at 6400MT/s in 1:1 mode. However, 1:1 mode still can't beat 2:1 at 7400MT/s and above speeds.

Long story short. Get the highest speed memory kit with the lowest latency for 9800X3D if you have budget. Otherwise, stick to 6000MT/s CL30.

I have been on the fence to get either the cl28 6000mhz or the cl30 6400mhz variants which is the better option for the 9800x3d?
after reading a megatest who knows in games it can be all over the shop from aplication to aplication dont think it will be anthing you can notice either way

Funny you should say that. I am testin a 7800x3d on a x870e gigabyte aorus pro using some crappy kingston 5200mhz cas 40 mem atm. I have faster Corsair stuff. But if you know anything about Corsair memory it is not the same as the Corsair Memory of yesteryear. Ask it to run at 6000 when it is originally a 7200mhz kit and my test setup blacks out faster than stag goers.

That doesn't even make sense, it's probably one or a couple auto timings that is making it unstable.

So it allows me to copy the original timings and then I changed the frequency from 7200 to 6000. When I reboot with that it gets stuck in endless boot loops.

I might have another try this weekend. But in my experience Corsair ram whether it ddr 4 or 5 platinum or titanium they run at their rated speeds. Anything outside that they tend to not play ball.

I might whip in my Gskills and have a play with them as they are far more versatile than the Corsair stuff. Maybe I don't know enough about the am5 platform to get them to work. But when I was on the z690 and z790 platform it was a similar story.

Corsair used to be excellent but looking over the last few weeks it does seem more budget orientated now , back in the dim days of yore I always used crucial memory

Truth be told Corsair stuff hasn't been good for years especially after they sold out to a conglomerate.

I have been a Corsair user for 20 years when it was still Corsair Memory Inc. Their ram was bar none the fastest, most reliable, most desired and quite often the most expensive. The days of XMS and XMS 2 ram are legendary. The very first iteration of the dominators I bought as well. I am not talking about the platinums or Titanium's. We are talking about the OG dominators.

Their customer service with Yellow beard at the helm was unlike any customer service I have seen since. He was practically on every forum just not also taking part in discussions but also sorting out customers RMA and stuff.

Their psu's when they use to made by Seasonic were my fave PSU of all time. I could go on and on about the Corsair of yesteryear to the Corsair of today but we would be stuck here for hours.

Well, I wouldn’t say all of Corsairs products are now poor because they do still make some good stuff but as a whole, they have lost their reputation as offering only top quality products.

Corsair Dominator Platinum used to be the very best RAM but expensive, now it’s just expensive.

They must have done something funky with the XMP profile. You could try getting into windows with an even lower speed and then checking Zentimings.

Well I think I will be going for a 6000 speed as reccomended. Also I have gone for a lower cost motherboard than I was originally looking at as its of no great use to me. I have ordered the Asrock Nova wifi one everyone is going on about due to the nvme slots not stealing off the gpu lanes. (ordered from here but not sure on the lead time of when stocks coming in,)
