I've just installed 4*1gb sticks of corsair 55512 ram in my gigabyte DS3. Now the chip is at 2.8ghz with 400*7. Now my old 4*512 sticks of Geil 6400 44412 passed memtest. I'm getting 1 error on test 7 each time. I don't know whether i should be bothered about this or not. Maybe it's my memory controller? I haven't done a full test yet, but we'll see.

Have you tried each stick of corsair on its own to identify which one is producing the error?

If the geil was fine i doubt its the memory controller

It passed 1 pass with 1 error in test 7. It then errored some more on pass 2. Could this be a heat issue?

Doubt its heat tbh

You need to test each stick on its own to identify if you have a duff one

Well:

I took 1 pair out and the remaining pair was fine (i left it for 1.5 passes)

Removed working pair

Added next pair

Ran it for 1.5 passes and no errors

I did test them all in the same slots BUT I was using Memtest 86+1.55 which is a really old version, could this cause errors as the latest one only added support for P965 chipsets etc. I don't think my version even supported DDR2.

Well I'm dual booting. I'm booting from the disk so that really shouldn't be relevant. I'm going to put all pairs in together and try them. I've downloaded the latest memtest to see if that's the problem.

Cheers for the help dude, I'm testing all pairs together now. It'll probably error and be a royal pain in the bum.

It will be for sale, yes. However I couldn't get it to run Orthos blend@44412 - so I will advertise it as 6400 55518 ram. If you can get it any better then great :)

It will be for sale here or over on the banned website who have a FS forum

Somethings either not right with my board OR the corsair.

sigh

Edit: Yeah I tried the geil at different voltages...same thing.

Seriously, ive been having this problem on a DS3 with 4x1gb geil sticks. I have tried everything i could think of too. Checked individually / matched pairs, all is well. Anymore and i get MemTest errors on . . . TEST 7!! Tried a Rev3.3 DS3 and the same problem persists. No-one anywhere was any clue why its happening. Ive tried tightening/loosening the timings, lowering / raising the volts, but alas, no joy.

The wierd thing is, its stable in orthos for 3 hours+, and i have no problems running supcom, bf2142 and others.

Id like an answer to this question too.
