I'm running 8Gb of G.Skill DDR2 PC2-8000 PQ in my system.

At 2v its running 1100Mhz and works perfectly, same board as you too.

in the passed i have found this to be true also.! with asus boards i try to match the ram with something of the asus recomended vendors list, but generally like to stick with corsair. :D

Agreed, i believe (although im not 100% sure) its cause OCZ ram runs at a higher voltage which the ASUS boards dont like.

well bought my self Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4DHX DDR2, 4096MB x2 looks like cracking memory, pity ocuk dont have them had to look else were

The only reason I went from 4 to 8gig was the price. Also, looking back at what happend with SD-RAM and DDR1 prices, if you wait till you actually need/want the extra memory, it will probably cost at least twice as much as it does now.

will 4g to 8g of RAM provide a noticable performace increase with vista premium 64bit ofc, a 3ghz quad core and 4870 512mb?

hmm might have set aside £100 for another 4g then =P along with a new monitor 2009 will require a little saving =P
