Hello - I had 3 x 2GB triple channel memory sticks (OCZ 1333 MHz) and found with Photoshop the memory use was 100%

SO I purchased 3 x 4GB sticks (Kingston Hyper X blue 1600 MHz).

Thought I would jut plug them in to get 18GB but PC was unstable.

SO unplugged 3 originals and moved new 4GB sticks to slots 1, 2 and 3.

Seems to be OK

Should I be able to run all 6 memory sticks together?

But now I have 3 x 2GB sticks I don't need!

You should have thought about that before you bought the new RAM.

To be serious you may get them working together with some adjustment of speeds, voltages and timings.

The OCZ 1333MHz is unlikely to work at 1600MHz, for example, so you'd have to downlock the new RAM.

Also if you have an overclocked CPU then running with all 6 RAM slots filled can affect the overclock so you may have to reduce it or tweak some of the settings used.

I did - I was only going to use the new RAM but just thought I would try it. 12GB seems enough for my Photoshop use.

I did realise it would only run at the lower clock speed.

Photoshop is now runnnig at 6 - 7GB memory for stitching panoramics so 12GB is adequate - I will try the members market to sell old RAM.

I am overclocked so having all slots full would seem to be a problem - thanks for that snippet of info.
