Memory Upgrade question?

Hi,

I have the following rig

AMD 64 3400
2 x 512 GEIL 3200 DDR400 CAS 2.5
MSI K8N Neo Mobo
Geforce 6800GT 256MB
Tagan 480W PSU

I want to beef my machine up to help run LOTRO a bit smoother so I was hoping to fill my 3rd DIMM slot with a 1GB stick.

I was thinking of this one >>Crucial 1GB DDR PC3200 CAS3 (CT12864Z40B)

After checking the mobo manual it doesn't say if this configuration with work or not. Does anyone know if this will be OK?

The board takes upto 2gb, so that config should be fine.

If you only fill the thrid slot with 1gb and leave the 4th one free your mobo won't run in Dual channel mode. You get a performance hit doing this !

You be better off hunting down some ram that matches your or scraping it and getting a 2GB Kit.

its true that there will be a performance hit...but the increased memory should outweigh it.

The MSI K8N Neo only has 3 memory slots.

And being an nF3 Socket 754 board, it doesn't have dual-channel.
