Hi :)

I currently have 4 sticks of 512mb DDR2 PC4200 533Mhz Samsung memory sat at 660mhz on 4-4-4-8 1T timings. Good overclockers I must say.

They have been sat hapilly on my P5N-E SLI for nearly a year with the above settings and so I was thinking of an upgrade.

Now if I was to get 2 sticks of say Geil 1GB 800mhz Memory on 4-4-4-12 2T timings would I really see much of a difference?

I know I would probably have to slacken the timings on the 800mhz if i'm to overclock it so performance would possibly drop.

I may also get 2 x 512mb matched sticks of the same memory so I have at least 3GB of memory in dual channel. I dont want to opt for the 64bit OS.

Your advice would be appreciated. :)

If you're sticking with 2gb, and your current memory isn't holding back your CPU clock, then no you won't really see much difference from changing to the CAS4 Geil.

Cheers Cob.

I have my 6320 @ 3.2Ghz stable under 10hrs of Orthos ( 30c Idle - 53c Load ) and the memory has done umpteen loops on memtest with no errors.

As the timings on most 800mhz memory is 5-5-5-15 I did think it might be a bad idea to get it. Even with the Geil at 4-4-4-12 if I overclocked it wouldn't I probably end up with 5-5-5-15 anyway?

You would probably get the Geil to 920mhz 4-4-4-12, tho some have more luck than others.
