Memory upgrade question

Looking to buy some more RAM for my machine (AMD 6 core). I have 4 GB at the moment of http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS

Now, do I buy another set of this so it matches or buy cheaper/more expensive RAM (can afford a bit more). Basically not sure about the compatibility with my current RAM.

Buy another matching set - it reduces the chances of compatibility and stability issues.

If you need more RAM then another kit of that XMS3 stuff would be great. The performance benefit of going for faster RAM is tiny and when running two kits together you still need to run them all at settings of the slowest (and if it's a different kit you introduce the chance that it won't run correctly with the existing set).

Ah cool, pretty much both confirmed what I thought. What about an 8GB set. Would that work with a 4GB?

Figured Id add a question to this, I do plenty of rendering in sony vegas for games such as black ops/MW2 will I notice a increase in rendering speed and preview speeds? As I have the same set of ram for £35 im thinking of jumping in for the upgrade, from 4GB to 8GB.

any help is appreciated.

Yes you will notice a difference, its the same reason I am buying more for CAD programs
