At the moment i have X2 1GB PC3200 Memory 400MHz

Would i get much extra peformance if i change to following below

Data Integrity Check: Non-ECC
Form Factor: DIMM 240-PIN
Memory Specification Compliance: PC4200
Memory Speed: 533 MHz
Registered or Buffered: Unbuffered
Storage Capacity: 2x 1024MB
Technology: DDR2 SDRAM

No as it wouldnt work due to be it being DDR2, AMD's current platforms do not support this but the upcoming AM2 socket will do.

You haven't posted the brand and model number of the memory you are using or the memory you are thinking of getting. All PC3200 is not created equal so that is the vital information. I recommend you also post all your other specs including details of any overclocking you've done.

Basically 'PC3200' means the same thing as '400mhz' - it's the rated frequency of your memory.

Officially 400Mhz is the fastest frequency an Athlon 64 can support, _but_, many people overclock their memory to speeds of up to 600Mhz. This is why the faster DDR exists. If you don't plan on overclocking there is _no point_ in buying high frequency memory as it will only run at the default 400Mhz. FYI many high performance '400Mhz' modules are actually capable of running much faster than a cheaper set rated at '500Mhz' or whatever. So if you do plan on buying some overclocking memory - do your research.

If you don't plan to overclock you could get some memory which will run only 400Mhz but at tighter 'timings' than your current stuff, which would give some increase in performance, but you can probably just tighten the timings on the memory you have right now. If you post what kind of memory it is someone will tell you how possible this is.
