I'm thinking about upgading my memory from Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) to either
one of these OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-9200 1150MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR11502GK) or
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x1GB) which one would you recommend.
My system spec's are.

Motherboard Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2
Processor Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz
Graphics EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS SuperClocked 320MB
Ram Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)

Neither tbh. Your current memory is fine for your system.

I would spend the money on a Core 2 Duo instead.

That shouldn't make any difference.

Can I ask why you want to buy PC8500 or faster? It's pretty pointless unless your FSB is above 500mhz.

The Pentium D?

I would assume that the 'true' FSB is 266mhz (Intel quad-pump their FSB's so 266 x 4 = 1066mhz). Therefore you really only need PC2-4200 to run at it. And your current PC5400 is designed to run at 337mhz (or 675mhz since it's Double Data Rate).

You really would be better either spending the money on an 800mhz or 1066mhz Core 2 Duo or another 2gb of your current memory. You would notice a far greater difference than 'upgrading' to PC8500 or PC9200.

No problem :)

You are ofcourse free to spend your hard-earned cash how you wish, but PC8500 or PC9200 would be a waste of it.
